It's my day to join the fun for my friend Claudia Porter's new Island Batik line - Lunar Glow.

Claudia has invited 8 friends to join her blog hop this year, and I felt honored when she asked me. My excitement grew even more when I saw the color palette, as I'm a big fan of this line due to my love for green. I also adored the patterns in the line, especially with all the lunar motifs.
Naturally, I anticipated wanting to work with Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) and had the ideal design concept in mind. What concerned me was the blog aspect. I haven't really created a blog for this site before, so this will be an adventure for all of us!
Since 2021, I've been in love with art deco and stained glass stylized FPP patterns. I've completed a few patterns from designers I admire and began designing a pattern that didn't quite catch on for me. I experimented with it using various fabric lines and combinations, but it never seemed as impactful as I hoped. Then came Lunar Glow!

From the first block I built, I knew I was going to be extremely happy with how this project turned out. The build of color, from the bright green center of stained glass effect I was trying to create, to it's deep, bold blues and purples framing the final project, I was hooked.
You know you've got your hands on a good fabric line when it makes you look like you've got the whole color theory business locked down!

I was really chugging along and then came the moment of truth. I would have to cut four perfectly amazing blocks in half to box in my on-point design. After spending so much time just the right fabric and putting all the block sections together, I quadruple checked - and checked again - that I was cutting the blocks the right way for them to complete the wall hanging.
Quilting is not for the feint of heart!
My plan was to adjust the pattern and create a couple of bolster pillows to match - but I haven't quite gotten there yet. Life has managed to creep into my sewing space and I haven't had the time or sewjo to make that happen. But I could not be happier with my contribution to the new patterns featuring Lunar Glow.
